Houses & Colours

Our school places a significant priority to social, emotional and physical development of each learner. It is divided into six ‘houses’ and are recognised in different colours. Red , Yellow ,Green ,Orange, Blue & Violet. Upon admission, each child is allotted a house and a badge that must be displayed on the school uniform. These houses compete with each other at sports and other extra-curricular activities.

House System

It exists mainly for the purpose of healthy competition based on the philosophy of inclusion and team work. At our institution, a growing number of varied competitions are held that have house points connected to them. These points are accumulated throughout the year to produce an overall winning House. Students are usually assigned to houses randomly with an aim of balancing the houses in order to increase a sense of community and healthy competition. Its ethos is based on the social and emotional needs of the student and to ensure proper peer mentoring is enhanced with the right fit of students within a house.

House Captains

At the beginning of the academic year, meetings are held to elect House Captains. One boy and one girl from senior grade are elected from each house. These students are chosen by their classmates, faculty and the Physical Education teachers. The job of these students is mainly to gather the rest of the house members and help in the organization of the different inter-house events. The job of the house captains is to take responsibility for leadership and organisation of their house through the upcoming academic year.

House Competitions

In our school, various house competitions take place throughout the year. All competitions give students the opportunity to win house points. Learners quickly form an allegiance to their house and a sense of fun and friendly competition pervades all house events.
House points are added and the house with most points at the end of the year wins a coveted overall best house position. Our inter-house

The school has the following clubs enabling Social Empowerment through Work and Action (SEWA): Cyber, Eco, Literary, Math, Science and Sports.

Celebrations -Important Days

Children will remember an important day only if they are told what the occasion signifies. So a celebration makes them aware of the world in a more fun way. Celebrating events and festivals in our school has become an integral part of learning and building a strong cultural belief. Such celebrations bring the students closer to each other’s traditions and cultural beliefs and develop respect and understanding for each other’s customs and traditions. Some of the days celebrated in  in our school are Independence Day, Janmashtami, Mother’s day, Grandparent’s day etc. Other famous festivals of India include Sankranthi, Raksha Bandhan, Holi, Diwali , etc. With so many festivals to celebrate, Indians surely have millions of reasons to rejoice! Furthermore, when students from different regions experience this joy of festivals, it truly enhances the Indian culture.

So apart from classroom learning, Our School encourages students to celebrate each and every festival and event with great zeal and enthusiasm. Children are exposed to the essence of festivals in various ways like they tap their feet on peppy songs followed by cheerful rhymes and melodious songs. Each and every performance turns out to be innovative and unique in its own way. At the end of the day the boundless joy of celebrating the event is visible on the faces of all. The Pre-primary wing of our school celebrates most of the events in the presence of their parents and our honourable Principal cum which illuminates the celebration.

For students, it is a great way to understand the rich heritage of India and learn about the importance of various festivals. Along with enthusiasm and fun for the activitiesqualities like sensitivitycreativity and togetherness are also inculcated in the students. Keeping its values intact, our school wishes to offer the right kind of educational system which is based on moral ethics. The school also believes that education will allow the child to bloomblossom and thrive, giving them the right platform where they will work towards becoming a responsible citizen.

Annual Day forms an integral part of our school activities.  It is an occasion of celebration, felicitation, feast and festivity when students present not only their wonderful performances but also receive honours for their curricular and co-curricular achievement. There will be a common theme for the celebrations. Every year the woven around the theme “THE MISTS OF TIME” with vibrancy and life being propelled into magnificent and reverberating celebrations

This year 2021Annual day celebrations in schools are going online in view of the pandemic crisis. Our school management decided to conduct the event online to kindle the spirit of togetherness and encourage students to showcase their talents despite the difficult times.

The intent of hosting annual day events online came based on the inference that efforts should be made to organise extracurricular initiatives as a tool to overcome the academic pressure and mental anxieties experienced by learners in the pandemic situation.

Sports Day
It is one of the most significant fixtures of the year. Most of our students look forward to this day as it honours and awards them for their sportsmanship, endeavour, resilience and zeal.

Observing Special Days

In our school, we have few days marked in the academic calendar. They are usually intended to be special for they remind our young ones about the principles, valour, selfless service and the dedication of our leaders and teachers.

Teachers’ Day
This day is intended for the appreciation of teachers and includes celebrations to honor them for their special contributions in a particular field or the community in general. We celebrate Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birthday on September 5 as Teachers’ Day. Our Students show their admiration and respect for their teachers by organising a special function or event for them.

World Environment Day
It is one of the main events through which the United Nations wants to create worldwide awareness about the environment and draw attention towards it.
In spite of considerable efforts and achievements, several problems are still unresolved. During the day, our learners are mostly involved in activities pertaining to the conservation and preservation of the environment, such as the tree planting drive in theSchool and  local community or the cleanliness campaign around the city.

World Health Day
Every year on 7th April, the world celebrates World Health Day which is sponsored by the World Health Organisation (WHO). It has a different theme each year focusing on health issues of various age groups. For example, the theme in 2013 was ‘Healthy Environment for Children’ as millions of children die every year from environmental-related illnesses. They can be saved by the creation of healthy settings, whether it is the home, school or the community. Our learners make posters, distribute pamphlets and organise talks related to the theme and are a part of the chain providing health information.

Literacy Week
Events are held throughout the week that focuses attention on worldwide literacy issues. With the development of new technologies, the gap between rich and poor countries is growing wider by the day. Illiteracy is now a global problem. In this week, our pupils participate in various literacy events organised by the State Education Department.

Children’s Day
All over India, 14th November is celebrated as Children’s Day for it marks the birthday of our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. There are many special events organised for pupils on this day. Food and juice packets are served to them in school.

School Assembly

Inter school competitions- Kalavigyan and sports Olympics

Participating in Inter School events gives the children a chance to leave the safety net of the School and experience the challenges of the outside world. It is both an exhilarating and a sobering experience. Exhilarating because winning brings confidence and it is sobering to find that there are others from other schools who are just as good, if not more talented. The winners are felicitated at the assembly time when the trophy is displayed and a brief summary of the event is shared with everyone. As a means of encouragement for others to test their skills, this appearance at assembly, is invaluable for nurturing talent, discovering skills.

Students from various schools of JGI are honoured with STUDENT EXCELLENCE AWARD at the Student Recognition Programme every year

Student Recognition Programme is the culmination of the hard work put forth by students in an academic year. It is a milestone in their lives where we gather and celebrate their success. Student Recognition Programme is not the end but a beginning to a new horizon of our students’ career.

It paves the way for the under-achievers to strive harder, lending a healthy atmosphere of competition amongst the students to do their best.A solid program like this can encourage a sense of accomplishment and achievement that students can carry with them for the rest of their lives. Each year we proudly and publicly  honour our student leaders through this Recognition Program.

The students being recognized each year are chosen by their principals and/or coordinators for demonstrating the will to succeed, the dedication to finish what they started, and the commitment to achieve their personal best.

  Student Exchange Programmes

We see our student exchange programme during JGI interschool Kalavigyan or sports Olympics as a step towards creating well rounded and dynamic individuals. As part of this programme, students get to visit other educational institutions within India . The most discernible result from our Student Exchange Programme is a huge boost in the self-esteem and confidence of the participants.

Student Cultural Exchange Programme
This involves interacting with students from other countries for exchange programs. This exchange programme is aimed at allowing students to enjoy a unique academic experience mixed with cultural and social interactions.. We observe this exchange program as greatly beneficial to the children since it exposes them to different cultures, cuisines, traditions and family set-ups.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

We believe community service is essential to the holistic development of a child. Working together, kids learn to solve problems and make decisions and successfully contribute to their community. They connect local concerns with global issues and gain awareness of others. All this will serve them now and years later as they transition out of school and into the world

GUIDANCE & COUNSELLING CELL

Guidance and counselling is an integral part of schools. They play a major part in ensuring the health and vitality of schools. Counsellors are the link between the student, school and the home.

The Role of the Counsellor

The counsellor is the guide and mentor of the students and staff alike, ensuring productivity, development and preventive measures. The school, through the counsellor, helps to positively influence all its stakeholders. The main focus of the counsellor is the student. Apart from academic development, equal attention is given to personal growth and care beyond school.

Transport.

The school has an extensive fleet of well-maintained buses which cover a large radius around the school. All our buses are manned by qualified and experienced drivers. The buses have a conductor/attendant to ensure the safety of all the students on board. The school buses have all mandatory clearances from concerned authorities to ply on the road.

With meticulous planning, care has been taken to help parents select routes and bus stops closest and most convenient to their residence.

Every year the bus routes and stops are reviewed and improved for the convenience of the students. An exclusive transport department, manages the transport system with focus on parent and student satisfaction, and safety of students. All the buses are equipped with the latest version of the GPRS tracking system and CCTV cameras. This initiative will ensure that we know where the buses are at all times, check their speed, track unscheduled stops and verify if the buses reach the stops on time. This step will also ensure the security of students at every moment.

We Provide Convenient and Safe Pick up Facility

Transportation is optional for students and since all students are required to be seated, it is important that applications for transportation are given well in advance in order to avoid overcrowding. Requests for discontinuation of the school bus service requires a months’ notice to the transport-in-charge otherwise the transportation quarterly charges will be forfeited.

Our priority is to ensure that the buses ply on time, are safe and dependable. Students will be picked up and dropped off only at the designated bus stops.

Students will be handed over to their guardians on the homeward journey. Under no circumstances will a child be allowed to disembark from the bus other than the scheduled stop without the guardian’s request. In such a situation the student will be taken back to school and may be picked up from the school office after showing the pass to the transportation officer.

Any change in the route or bus stop requires a written application to the Principal. We try to accommodate all requests for change of routes/buses; however we may be helpless in this aspect if there is a constraint in space in the bus on the route of your choice.

Discipline: Discipline in the bus has to be maintained at all times. The school will not be responsible in case of any mishap if students refuse to sit in the buses or fight with each other while the bus is moving. Bus rules are for the safety of students and we request parents to ensure their wards pay heed to bus monitors and teachers in the bus.

Your cooperation for an efficiently run transport facility will be highly appreciated.

Security – A Safe Environment Is Essential for Learning

We think of children as our most precious resource, and their safety is of  utmost important to us. At our school, we are dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment in which your child can learn and grow without physical or emotional threat or intimidation. We believe that safety in our school is the key to academic success of each and every student. Therefore, school security is a responsibility we take very seriously, while still maintaining a warm and welcoming learning environment. We ensure that the child is safe from all kinds of violence, external as well as internal. Emergency preparedness plans are in place for a variety of crisis situations. These plans have been drawn up after consulting with experts and are reviewed and updated periodically. Fire and safety drills are regularly scheduled so that students and staff are completely aware of what they must do in case a real emergency arises. Our school adheres to CBSE safety code, complete with access to fire and security equipment at regular intervals of time. CCTV cameras are installed extensively across the school and a premier security agency takes care of the premises, with security guards on duty 24/7. We keep close a watch on every visitor and children are not allowed to leave the campus except in their designated transport

Value Education Programme

In today’s fast paced world, it is important to preserve our rich and varied cultural heritage. Our students are well informed of the value India as a nation provides to the world through our Value Education classes. In these classes, we have guest lecturers, learned personalities and social workers come speak to our students on various topics

Excursions

School excursions as an essential part of our curriculum. It is on these trips that students get to explore, interact with new surroundings and peers, while reveling in the joy of discovery. We see school trips as an indispensable part of the broader category of outdoor learning opportunities. It helps children face a range of obstacles and have a significant impact on their personal development. Students are always looking forward to getting out of the classroom. Besides them getting to visit places they might not otherwise see combined with the opportunity of learning through travel, school excursions also offer relief from the drudgery of academic learning. Teachers too can interact and observe their pupils in a more informal structure. This is the reason we see our school excursions as so much more than putting students on a bus and just taking them somewhere.
All our excursions are well planned, carefully organised and curriculum based, deepening understanding of concepts taught in the classroom. Every school outing has a tailor made itinerary that enriches the curriculum through first-hand experience. Our students are able to appreciate subjects like history, geography and science from a more ‘active’ perspective. We ensure that our school excursions have a natural, dynamic environment as a learning venue that matches students’ natural inclination to learn more and engage even those with short attention spans. Additionally, school excursions create more permanent ‘episodic memories’, helping students retain information for longer periods of time.

 Places We Visit

Our school holds excursions to Primary sections to places like, zoos, botanical gardens, museums and even factories, dairy plants ,Post Office, Banks, Farms.
Parents – Our Backbone
The school would not be able to work without support of the parents. We are committed to the progress and development of the students. It is your trust in us that helps us forge ahead. We understand children and know that it is important to gain their trust so that they respond to us. Students are handled gently because at this juncture of life, they are emotionally vulnerable and seeking adult approval.

To achieve this goal, student are offered significant roles to play in and out of school. They plan, organize and execute major yearly events. They educate and train their juniors to leave a legacy of their fine print and to represent their alma mater in numerous happenings throughout their schooling years
